Menopause Anxiety and the Quality of Your Life PDF Print E-mail

Menopause is a natural physiological process through which every woman must pass. I have yet to meet a woman who is not somewhat apprehensive about the menopausal stage in her future. Although the must be some women who are prepared to take on the challenge. Many women have a wait and see attitude, which is rather counterproductive, particularly when applied to menopause.

The physiology of menopause

As the ovaries begin to shut down they will produce less estrogen and progesterone. These lowered levels of hormones in the blood bring about a host of unpleasant symptoms: hot flashes, night sweats, anxiety attacks, wild mood swings, and even depression. All these symptoms come for one reason hormone imbalance.

Women the world over are well aware of the triggers; however, most tend to consciously deny these symptoms as pre-menopausal for at least one year before accepting the fact.

What can be done to combat menopause anxiety

There are many remedies out there which will help to navigate through menopause. However, some symptoms are best controlled with natural therapies while others are better dealt with using synthetic medicines.

Keeping in touch with a good medical practitioner during this time is very important. Menopause anxiety can be quite complex and you might not immediately respond to treatment, especially if you are not accepting the HRT (hormone replacement therapy). The good news is that the herbal remedies are almost 100 per cent effective, though a bit slower than synthetic HRT. Many doctors advise women to start on HRT and gradually replace it with the natural methods, thereby giving you the best of both the worlds.

Staying on track

Menopause anxiety can be fully controlled by herbal treatment. It is important that you follow the instructions closely and maintain all the necessary dietary restrictions. Herbal therapies do not work well if you smoke, drink excessive amounts alcohol or eat foods high in fat. Hopefully, within three to four weeks of thereapy you will think of menopause anxiety as something from the past.
